If you hadn’t already heard, I am currently pregnant with our 6th baby. I’ll be 32 weeks this week, which means I’ll be doing the labour thing in about 8 weeks time! It’s approaching rather quickly now, for a long time it felt like I had so much time before I would need to be preparing for baby’s arrival! I checked into the hospital last week so that was a bit of a reality check, in a few short weeks I’ll be packing my hospital bag and washing teeny tiny baby clothes!
So I thought I would share here what my plans are for Fred & Pepper leading up to the birth and while I’m caring for a newborn…
Fred & Pepper really is still in its infancy, I’ve had my Etsy shop open for 12 months and selling locally for about 15 months, so in reality it’s still pretty early days. I’m enjoying it so much, but I’ve had to accept that I will have to take a break and possibly be starting from close to scratch with Etsy when I’m able to reopen again. In saying that though, I intend to enjoy this last baby as much as possible without worrying about anything else.
So from the end of March, I’ll be closing custom orders and made to order items will be unavailable, just in case baby comes early and I can’t finish and deliver orders.
I’ll be closing my Etsy store mid April so that I can have some time to rest and prepare for baby’s arrival. At this stage I will more than likely be closed for 2-3 months, depending on how well baby settles in. Most of my babies have had reflux, and have not been the greatest sleepers so I will need some time to not only recover from the birth but catch up on sleep!
I will still have stock available for purchase at my local stockist Sew Fab while I’m on ‘maternity leave’. I’ve been trying to create a bit of a stockpile so I can just restock each month or so without having to find the time to sit down and make things.
I’ve been thinking a lot about product lines and what I would like to add, and have been wanting to add more along the lines of nursery decor and crochet items, so I’ll be working on that over the next few months as I prepare for my own baby, and will hopefully have some new pieces to release in time for Christmas.
I will still be active on social media throughout this time, (beware the baby spam in the future!) so you can still follow me on Instagram and Facebook to keep up to date with what’s happening and when I’m reopening etc.
I also plan to keep blogging weekly up until the birth when I’ll take a break from this as well.
Thanks for reading along, and supporting me on my creative journey. I’m truly grateful for all of you who read my blog, interact and support me on social media and support my little business.
If you have any tips for me on taking a break from Etsy and handmade business, I’d love to hear them!
Till next time…
